Student Teachers

May 6 - 20, 2026

Family Friendly Hours:

Saturday, May 16, 12-2pm

Sunday, May 17, 2-4pm

This exhibition brings together works created in classrooms across New York City by K–12 students in collaboration with student teachers from the MA in Art and Art Education with Initial Certification Program at Teachers College. The lessons that shaped these works were designed and taught by graduating art educators who have spent the past year cultivating responsive, inquiry-driven art experiences in diverse school communities.

Rooted in an emphasis on material exploration, student choice, and open-ended inquiry, the work on these walls reflects processes as much as products. Across classrooms, students were invited to experiment, take risks, and develop ideas through sustained engagement with materials – discovering how meaning can emerge through making.
