Leviathan, is a body of work that deals with the material history and relationship that humanity shares with whales, particularly during 19th to 20th century practices of whaling. Doctoral candidate and artist educator, Joe Cimino, has been developing this project since 2023 through time-based media, digital collage, and 3D-printed sculptures with a focus on layering and distortion. This exhibition compiling these works brings moments of time into a singular frame to present this entangled history.
